About Signature Soles

Signature Soles is owned and operated by Anna Boccarossa, a formally trained Detroit area artist. Anna's love of art was inspired at an early age. Her parents were Italian immigrants who shared passionate stories about the artists of Rome and Florence. Later, Anna's own passion for art would become an educational and career goal. She completed her BFA in fine arts as well as a post degree in art education from Wayne State University.
In the summer of 2007, Anna attended a "Backyard Barbecue National Skateboarding Tour" with her children. While circulating the event, a Converse representative handed Anna and others a Converse "Chuck Taylor" high-top to draw on for a chance to win a prize. Anna's pattern caught the attention of Sanford Sharpie Markers, Converse, and an audience of teenagers and adults alike. The "random pattern" style shoe was brought back to Converse for print consideration. The recognition brought by both Sharpie and Converse were only the beginning of a shoe story.
Since then, Anna was invited to be an exhibiting shoe artist at the Detroit Sneaker Project. Her illustrated shoes were amongst those of Los Angeles, and New York celebrity shoe artists. Anna's work earned the title as "the suburban spin on hip-hop."
As an artist and art teacher, Anna's passion was mentoring children at risk, and inner city youth. Teaching children to put their thoughts into visual creations; and graffiti onto sellable works of art became a mission; motto being: "let's damage paper, not walls." Anna continues to work as both an art teacher, and a professional artist.
What makes Anna unique, is her personalized attention to each customer; her ability to draw a variety of images, and her attention to detail. Illustrations from Signature Soles are literally wearable works of art.
